Overview

Terra Networks, a division of Telefonica, Brasil runs the largest news portal in Brasil, terra.com.br with 55 unique million page views daily. The Razorfish team worked closely with Terra to create the go-to 2008 Olympics microsite for Brazilian as well as syndicated in Spanish-speaking markets in Latin America.

Challenges

Allowing viewers to visit current past and future sports events, enabling fan support for athletes or teams, and weaving in sponsored ads. Five-week lead time for design/build.

Results

Snapshot of the day's events allow users to scroll from one day to the next. Upcoming events display athletes and sports information. Past events' outcome covered in feature articles. Uber program guide to all of the events. Fan pages show user support for athletes and teams with posted pictures and comments. Video channel captures commentary timeline.

IMPACTS: Terra's Olympic site registered 29 million video streams and over ten million video on demand downloads over the period of the Games making the most visited site in all of Latin America.
